for 2023 Nobel Peace Prize Nomination
ORLANDO, FL — May 13, 2024 — “The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Narges Mohammadi for her fight against the oppression of women in Iran and her fight to promote human rights and freedom for all. We are honored to have been nominated amongst the many inspiring leaders and organizations dedicating their life’s work to ensuring the rights and equality of all people.
Our nomination is a testament that justice-impacted people can become contributing members of society when given a second chance. The nomination also inspires us to continue to lean forward in our commitment to end the disenfranchisement and discrimination against people with convictions.”
– Desmond Meade, Executive Director, FRRC
– Neil Volz, Deputy Director, FRRC
ORLANDO, FL — May 13, 2024 — “We are committed to putting people over politics, and seeing every eligible Florida voter with a past conviction able to proudly and confidently participate in our democracy. While it should never have taken litigation to get here, we are proud that our lawsuit has resulted in the state of Florida taking steps to deliver on its obligation to have an election system that functions for everybody.
We know that election integrity begins at the front-end of the election process, which is why FRRC will closely monitor and actively engage with the state’s rulemaking process, and we will not hesitate to refile our lawsuit if the state fails to repair this broken system. We will not rest until the full promise of Amendment 4 is finally secured.”
– Desmond Meade, Executive Director, FRRC
